Update work and development
In this summer update, we would like to inform you about the developments around Marktkwartier West. We are making progress and are in the final phase of investigations and discussions necessary to start the construction preparation process. Additionally, our designers are working hard to further refine the housing designs.
Every downside has its upside
Sometimes a longer lead time does have its advantages. Due to the recent introduction of the 30 km/h zone, the facades of the new residential buildings on Jan van Galenstraat no longer need to be closed. Our design team immediately investigated how we could optimize these facades with balconies/loggias so that more homes will have a pleasant outdoor space. This also impacts the layout of the apartments. At this moment, these are being further developed with the goal of creating even better homes and outdoor spaces.
Current status of demolition and construction work
The demolition of the first buildings on Jan van Galenstraat (West side) is complete, and soon this area to the left of the central gate will be prepared for residential construction in Phase 1. On the industrial site of the Food Center, a new access route is currently being constructed. In the future, the new main entrance for truck traffic to the Food Center will be located on the north side. Truck traffic will then travel via Zeebergweg, Haarlemmerweg (S105), and Radarweg to the A10 West ring road. The connection via the north side is an important condition for realizing the Marktweide in the residential area.
